March 29, 1924, the Chicago Tribune's radio operations
over what had been WJAZ began from the Edgewater Beach Hotel. Reprinted
below is the text of a radio advertisement listing the schedule
of programming for opening night:

CHICAGO TRIBUNE, Zenith Station, Begins Broadcasting
at 6 o'clock tonight from the Edgewater Beach Hotel. Wave Length
370 meters.
INAUGURAL
PROGRAM 6 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday

The
Chicago Tribune intends to maintain in its broadcasting standards
of entertainment and instruction worthy of the call letters WGN.
