Biography:
Lyle Dean is
a legendary Chicago news anchor. Now enjoying the benefits of retirement,
he still is heard occasionally as a fill-in anchor at WGN Radio.
In the
past, he's worked with such Chicago morning radio celebrities as
Clark Weber, Larry Lujack, Fred Winson, Art Roberts, Bob Sirott
and the late Bob Collins.

Lyle
began his news career in Chicago in 1968 on WLS. During three of
his ten years there, he also anchored ABC Radio Network newscasts
out of Chicago. From there he served as news director of WFYR, prior
to joining WGN in 1984.
During
those years, Lyle developed the computerized Emergency
Closing Center that serves area schools, businesses, and radio
and television stations including WGN. He also began the syndicated
series To Your Health. Lyle also started what is now the Illinois
News Network and Tribune Radio Networks, where he served as General
Manager for three years.
Lyle
left WGN in 1996 to help start Channel Earth Communications, an
agriculture-based television network. He returned in 1998.
Lyle
has served as president of the Illinois News Broadcasters Association.
His work has received the Jacob Sher Award for investigative reporting
and the Morris Fishbein Award for medical writing. He has also received
various UPI and Associated Press awards.
Lyle
and his wife Sharon live in Northbrook. Their children Kirsten and
Erik live in the Chicago area.
