In 1956,
after four years as president of Crosley Broadcasting in Cincinnati,
Quaal was hired as WGN's Vice President and General Manager.
Following
the 1955 death of Col. McCormick,
Quaal filled the critical leadership role at WGN and was responsible
for guiding the radio and television stations through the next
phase of their history.
Hired many
employees who would have long careers at WGN and play critical
roles in its success.
